How laser hair removal works
The laser targets pigment in the hair follicle. That energy turns to heat, which reduces the follicle's ability to grow new hair.
Hair grows in cycles, and only follicles in the active growth phase respond to each session. That is why a course spaced several weeks apart works better than a single appointment.
It works best on darker hair. Very fine, grey, red or blonde hair holds little pigment and tends to respond poorly. Your skin tone guides the settings your provider chooses, and suitability is confirmed at your consultation.

Before your treatment
- Shave the area 24 hours before your appointment.
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 2 weeks beforehand.
- Skip waxing, plucking and threading. The laser needs the follicle in place.
- Arrive with clean skin, free of lotion, deodorant and makeup on the area.
After your treatment
- Mild redness or sensitivity may occur and typically settles within a few hours.
- Avoid heat, exercise and sun exposure for 24 to 48 hours.
- Shaving is fine between sessions. Waxing and plucking are not.
- Apply SPF daily to treated areas that are exposed.
How many sessions will I need?

Does it hurt?

The accurate term is hair reduction. Most people see a gradual reduction in hair density over a course, and some choose occasional maintenance sessions afterwards. Individual results vary and are not guaranteed.
Can I book if I have a tan?
Avoid sun and tanning for 2 weeks before your appointment. A recent tan affects how the laser is set. Let us know and we will advise on timing.
