What is DCA Lipodissolve?

DCA Lipodissolve or Fat Dissolve is a nonsurgical, injectable medication that destroys fat cells. Lipodissolve is often used to treat the “double chin” area and is best for clients with small to medium pockets of fat. DCA Lipodissolve dissolves the cell membrane of the fat cell and the fat is then excreted via the lymphatic system.

How long does the procedure take?

Your appointment will typically take 30-45 minutes. We will start by cleaning the area treated and applying a grid marking to outline the area treated. We will then inject the deoxycholic acid with a very small needle.

What happens after the injections?

After the injections, you will experience a burning or stinging sensation in the area treated that will subside within a few minutes. We will provide you with ice packs during your appointment. After the treatment, you will notice swelling. This swelling can take up to two weeks to completely subside.

How many treatments will I need?

Typically 3-4 sessions of DCA Lipodissolve are needed to reach your desired outcome, usually with each treatment spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

How long do results last?

Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. Results from DCA Lipodissolve are permanent if you maintain stable weight. If you gain a large amount of weight, you may notice new fat in the area treated.

Is there downtime?

Directly after treatment, the area will become red and swollen. Swelling and tenderness can last anywhere from 2-4 weeks – the more swelling, the better the results.

Results are noticeable at four to six weeks and last for years as fat cells are permanently destroyed, meaning that touch-ups shouldn’t be needed.
